FAQs

Where is the impression taken?

The “Sitting” as I call it can either be performed in the comfort of your own home or in my studio. This depends largely on the type of sculpture being created. The sitting for infants and small children are usually completed at the client’s home. A sitting fee is charged and depends on the location and length of travel. Please see the price chart.

How far will you travel?

I usually travel within a 80 mile radius of Princeton, New Jersey. However, I will consider travel to further locations. Travel expenses will apply.

How long does it take to create the impression?

The impression is safe and quick for infants and small children taking about 1 ½ minutes to complete. Large impression for adult will usually take about 5 to 8 minutes.

At what age can an impression be taken?

Impressions can be taken as early as birth. The material I use is very safe and won’t harm the baby. The optimal time to take an impression of a baby is within 3 months of birth. Although impression can be taken at any age, Children between the ages of 6 months to 3 years old tend to push and pull the hands or feet and timing the impression when they are asleep is helpful.

What do you use to take the impression?

I use medical grade alginate. A material derived from kelp or seaweed. It is very safe and hypoallergenic and can be applied directly to the skin.
